How the profiles are grouped

Profiles are grouped by the dimension ranked first. Your dominant faculty is worked out from faculty scores, where Thinking adds two dimensions together, so a few results have a dominant faculty different from the group their profile sits in. The result page shows both.

Profiles are not types you are born into. They describe the current order of your preferences, which can change with practice and circumstances.

Common questions

How many ICA profiles are there?

Twenty-four: every possible order of the four dimensions. Six profiles start with each dimension.

Which profile is the best?

None. No profile or faculty is better than another; each describes a different natural orientation, and each has a growth area.

What happens when two dimensions tie?

Tied dimensions are listed in A, B, C, D order, and the result page shows the other profiles the tie allows. Close or tied scores mean your profile is less settled; a retake may differ.
